This manual gives you a brief outline procedure to assist wifh fhe modem installation.Please refer to fhe Installation Manual of individual model in the  Installation CD for more detailed descriptions.

Introduction

With the 56K Modem,you can perform a comprehensive range of modem related functions that include downloading of graphic intensive web pages,high bandwidth audio/video files and large file size software programs at speeds up to 56Kbps.You can also send and receive faxex through the 56K Modem.

Minimum System Repuirement

*Computer with Pentium 233MHz and above processor

*A CD-ROM drive

*A free PCI slot or USB port or Serinal port

*Minimum 32MB RAM

*10MB hard disk space(system files and modem drivers only)

*Operating System support:Windows 98 SE,Windows Me,Windows 2000,Windows XP

Hardware Installation

For PCI modem:

*Make sure that your computer is switched off.Unplug the power   cord from the wall socket.Also turn off all other peripherals you may have attached to your computer.

*Remove the cover of your computer.

*Select a free PCI slot and remove its cover plate.Keep the mounting screw to secure your card later.

*Align the card with the selected PCI slot andpush it firmly into the slot.Make sure that the modem card is lined up properly and try again.Secure your card to your computer chassis with the mounting screw.

*Replace the cover of your computer.

*Turn on your computer.

For USB modem:

*It is a 'plug-n-play' device.You may connect your modem to your modem to your computer anytime without having to power down your system.

For Serial modem:

*Make sure that your computer is switched off.Connect the male plug of the Serial port Cable to the Serial Port Jack on the modem.

*Connect the female plug of the Serial Port Cable to the 9-pin serial port on your computer.

*Connect the AC power Adapter jack to the power jack on the modem. Plug the AC Power Adapter to an electrical outlet.

Software Installation

*Once you have comlteted the Hardware Installation, your system will detect the new devece.

*Place the Installation CD onto your CD-ROM drive.

*Always select the Specify a location of the modem driver. For example, D:\Model Number\Win98SE/ME/2000/XP. The example assumed that your CD-ROM drive is D.

*The model number is either MSP3885, MSP2950, UM9100, UM9800 orEM3950 depending which modem model you have purchased.

Verifving Your Modem

*From your Windows desktop, right-click on My Computer icon and select Properties.

*Click on the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.

*Double-click on the Modem device.You should see the newly installed modem is being listed.

*This means that your modem driver is successfully installed.
